Marvel Reveals New Jean Grey Comic Hot Off MCU X-Men Casting
Marvel has officially confirmed that Sadie Sink will portray Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ending months of fan speculation. The casting was announced alongside the rest of the X-Men ensemble at the D23 Expo. To capitalize on the MCU momentum, Marvel Comics is launching a new limited Jean Grey series later this year.
The five-issue comic book series, simply titled Jean Grey, will be written by Jed MacKay and illustrated by Rogê Antônio. MacKay has been the primary writer on Marvel’s main X-Men book since the 2024 “From the Ashes” relaunch that marked the beginning of the post-Krakoa era. Antônio brings recent relevant experience, having illustrated this year’s limited Cyclops series and prior Jean Grey-related work.
This tie-in comic represents a common marketing strategy in the entertainment industry, where comic book publishers leverage major film and television announcements to boost sales and engagement with their source material. The timing of the announcement at D23, a major fan-focused event, underscores Marvel’s focus on cross-media synergy between its cinematic and publishing divisions.
