Halo, Forza and World of Warcraft In-Game Rewards Coming to McDonald’s, Celebrating Xbox 25th Anniversary

McDonald’s has partnered with Xbox to celebrate the console’s 25th anniversary, offering exclusive in-game rewards across six major gaming franchises. The promotion, available in the UK and Ireland, features a program called “Side Missions” that ties limited-time McDonald’s menu items to digital gaming rewards.

The partnership encompasses Halo, Forza, Fallout 76, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Candy Crush Saga. Players can unlock in-game items by purchasing themed McDonald’s menu items inspired by each franchise’s universe. Examples include the Sugar Bomb Bundle for Fallout 76 and the Red Hot Portable Bakery for World of Warcraft.

The collaboration reflects a growing trend of gaming platforms partnering with non-gaming corporations to expand audience reach and engagement. By linking digital rewards to physical purchases, the initiative incentivizes both restaurant visits and deeper player engagement across multiple titles.

The timing aligns with Xbox’s 25th anniversary milestone, showcasing the platform’s flagship franchises to new audiences through a widely recognized consumer brand.
