PS5 Game Dev Says Sony Is Removing Its Catalog And Won’t Say Why

Sony is removing the entire catalog of Ukrainian developer Ternox Games from the PlayStation Store following August 23, according to an announcement by the studio on August 16. The developer stated that Sony “unilaterally terminated” their PlayStation contract without providing any explanation for the decision.

The most notable casualty of this delisting is Stonks-9800, a stock market simulation game with an ’80s aesthetic that was expected to launch on PS5. The title has been in Steam Early Access since July 2023 and maintains an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on the platform, indicating strong community reception among PC players.

Ternox Games did not disclose what prompted Sony’s contract termination or whether the decision was permanent. The abrupt nature of the move—terminating the partnership without explanation—has raised questions about Sony’s internal policies regarding smaller indie developers and their relationship with the platform. The August 23 deadline gives developers and players limited time to address any ongoing projects or purchased content before the games are removed from the PlayStation Store.
