Netflix’s 3-Part Sci-fi Masterpiece Is Officially Getting the Collector’s Edition it Deserves
Liu Cixin’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy is receiving a premium illustrated collector’s edition, marking a major milestone for the landmark science fiction series. The trilogy—comprising The Three-Body Problem, The Dark Forest, and Death’s End—has achieved widespread critical and commercial success since its original Chinese publication (2006–2010), winning both Hugo and Locus awards and selling millions of copies globally.
The English translation by Ken Liu, published by Tor Books in 2014, introduced the series to Western audiences and helped establish it as a cornerstone of contemporary hard sci-fi literature. The series gained additional prominence following the 2024 release of Netflix’s 3 Body Problem adaptation, which is anticipated to return for a second season in 2025.
The new collector’s edition consolidates all three books into a single 1,344-page volume, featuring original artwork by Matt Griffin, an acclaimed illustrator who has previously contributed art to the Star Wars and Dune book series. The inclusion of Griffin’s black and white title-page spreads elevates the edition’s presentation, positioning it as a definitive collection for both longtime fans and newcomers to the trilogy. This premium release reflects the trilogy’s enduring cultural impact and signals continued interest in Liu’s expansive exploration of first contact, game theory, and the long-term survival challenges facing humanity.
