Dune 3 IMAX Screenings Seemingly Impossible to Get Due to Scalpers
Dune: Part Three is experiencing unprecedented demand for its IMAX insider screenings, with tickets becoming nearly impossible to acquire at face value due to bulk purchases by scalpers. The film releases December 18, 2026, with exclusive IMAX showings beginning December 14. Pre-sale tickets launched on August 18, and despite being four months away, screenings have nearly sold out.
The rapid sellout is primarily attributable to scalpers who purchased tickets in bulk, pricing out average fans from premium IMAX experiences unless they pay significantly inflated resale prices. According to AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron, demand for Dune 3 IMAX screenings exceeded the company’s expectations, with website and mobile app traffic reaching approximately three times higher levels than the pre-sale for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
This situation highlights an ongoing industry challenge where automated purchasing systems and bulk-buying strategies allow resellers to corner limited inventory and artificially inflate secondary market prices. The issue affects both the studio’s ability to deliver the intended premiere experience and consumers seeking to see the film at reasonable prices.
