Avengers: Doomsday Prep Continues with Marvel’s New Incursion Series
Marvel Studios is preparing fans for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film with a new limited comic book series. Releasing this December, Doomsday will kick off a two-part cinematic event culminating in Secret Wars next year, both drawing inspiration from Marvel’s acclaimed 2015 Secret Wars comic event.
To bridge the narrative gap, Marvel has announced Incursions, a five-issue collection of one-shots that will revisit the Time Runs Out storyline—the original comic arc that directly preceded the 2015 Secret Wars event. The Time Runs Out narrative centered on a catastrophic threat: universes across the Marvel multiverse colliding in cataclysmic events called incursions. Each incursion forces two universes into direct conflict with existential stakes.
By revisiting this material, Marvel is reconnecting fans with the source material that shaped the cinematic adaptation, providing context and depth to the massive crossover that will reshape the MCU. The timing of the Incursions release aligns with Doomsday’s December debut, offering readers a comprehensive understanding of the multiverse-spanning conflict and the characters involved—including the newly introduced X-Men, Fantastic Four, and core Avengers cast.
