Activision has announced that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta will address a persistent technical issue that has frustrated players for approximately six years. The update will significantly reduce the frequency of the “update requires restart” message that appears after launching the game, which has been a longstanding annoyance that delays players’ ability to start playing immediately.
Currently, Call of Duty players are forced to restart their game shortly after booting it up to apply new updates and patches. While Activision’s beta fix will minimize how often this prompt appears upon startup, the company acknowledges that players may still encounter the restart screen if they’re actively playing when an update is deployed. The change represents an effort to streamline the user experience and reduce friction during the initial game launch.
