Steam Frame Seems to Be On the Horizon as Unboxing and Setup Videos Leak Online

Valve has revealed the Steam Frame, its upcoming next-generation VR headset, following the unintended leak of promotional videos. The videos—covering unboxing, setup, and accessory configuration—appeared on the ARM Steam Client following an update but were quickly removed by the company. However, the videos had already been captured and re-uploaded by users before removal. Rather than pursuing aggressive takedowns, Valve decided to officially re-upload the videos themselves, effectively leveraging the leaked momentum to publicly showcase the hardware.

The Steam Frame is the third hardware offering from Valve’s recent initiatives, following the Steam Machine and Steam Controller announced last year. The VR headset is designed for flexible gaming experiences, capable of both streaming games from a PC and running games locally. Technical specifications include LCD screens with 2160 x 2160 resolution per eye and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, positioning it as a substantial platform for PC gaming.

The leaked videos demonstrate the device’s wireless dongle and various included accessories, giving enthusiasts a detailed look at the complete system before Valve’s official launch announcement. The company’s pragmatic response to the leak suggests an imminent release window for the Steam Frame.
