Xbox’s Latest Console Update Will Finally Let You Choose Old Saves To Delete

Microsoft announced a new wave of console updates for Xbox Series X/S, beginning to roll out today to Xbox Insider members in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings. The updates introduce several quality-of-life improvements to the dashboard, save management, and profile customization.

The most notable features include expanded control over the home screen. Users can now customize and remove individual tiles from the Recent Games and Apps list, including the ability to remove the entire Play History tile. A new immersive background mode allows players to hide the home page and UI elements by pressing the right thumbstick, letting the background image take center stage.

Storage management has also been improved, giving players more granular control over their local game saves. This addresses a long-standing user request for better management of saved data without manual deletion.

Unexpectedly, the update also introduces a profile badge for Xbox One owners who purchased the console on its November 2013 launch day. Originally, these early adopters received a 0 Gamerscore achievement upon redeeming the product code included in the box. Now, this Day One achievement will be displayed as a profile badge, recognizing these first-generation owners.

These features will eventually become available to all Xbox Series X/S users in the coming weeks and months, following Microsoft’s recent string of platform improvements including enhancements to Xbox Cloud saves and improved achievement visibility.
