Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled “Override,” has launched with a video game-focused theme featuring characters, weapons, and locations from beloved gaming franchises. The season marks Epic Games’ largest gaming collaboration to date, creating what players are describing as a “video game multiverse” within Fortnite.

The new season introduces several gameplay innovations. Players can access an “admin panel” in the lobby’s top right corner to enter “lobby hack” codes—console commands that grant bonus items including Sprite Dust, sprites, and gizmos before entering matches. Each code is single-use and provides a helpful head start for the new season.

A major new mechanic is Match Overrides, triggered by giant cartridge-shaped consoles scattered across the map. When activated by players, these override consoles provide squad boosts or server-wide effects that alter gameplay rules, such as increased sprint speed, bonus XP, or enhanced pickaxe damage. Only one override console is activatable at a random time each match, with players who reach it first choosing between three different override options.

The weapon loot pool has been completely overhauled, with only Overdrive Grenades and healing items returning from the previous season. New weapons include the 8-Bit Shotgun, a retro-themed auto shotgun that uses game cartridges as ammunition.

The Battle Pass immediately provides Sonic the Hedgehog and features game-themed skins including Wrixel, Mali, Grace Crowne, and others. Early purchasers receive exclusive rewards including the Infiltrator Grace Crowne Style and Peril Peak Mali Outfit variants. The map includes three new major points of interest and references to iconic game locations like Green Hill Zone.
