Ewan McGregor Has Pitched a Star Wars Return Where Obi-Wan Kenobi Hunts for Yoda
Ewan McGregor has pitched a new Star Wars story concept to Lucasfilm, featuring his iconic character Obi-Wan Kenobi on a quest to find the legendary Jedi Master Yoda. The actor shared the idea with Lucasfilm president and chief creative officer Dave Filoli, positioning it as a post-Episode III adventure.
McGregor is best known for portraying Obi-Wan Kenobi across the Star Wars prequel trilogy and more recently in the 2022 Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” While the streaming show received mixed critical reception, it successfully brought the character back to audiences after a 17-year absence from live-action Star Wars content.
The actor has consistently expressed enthusiasm for returning to the character beyond the Disney+ series. His proposed pitch represents a continuation of this interest, suggesting a storyline where Kenobi would pursue Yoda, who enters hiding following the events of Revenge of the Sith.
The pitch showcases McGregor’s genuine connection to the Jedi character and his desire to explore new narratives within the Star Wars universe. Given the creative involvement of Dave Filoli—who has been instrumental in expanding Star Wars storytelling through projects like “Ahsoka”—the proposal indicates there may be active discussions about potential new Obi-Wan projects at Lucasfilm.
