Nintendo Confirms Exactly How Much More Switch 2 Will Soon Cost in The UK
Nintendo has officially confirmed a price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United Kingdom and Ireland, effective September 1, 2026. The console’s price will rise from £395.99 to £419.99—an increase of £24. In Ireland, the price will increase from €469.99 to €499.99.
This price increase is part of a broader worldwide adjustment announced earlier in 2025. The U.S. will see a $50 increase to $499.99, while Canadian prices will rise by $50 CAD to $679.99. The Euro zone is experiencing a €30 increase to €499.99. Japan already implemented its price adjustment earlier in the year.
This marks the second price increase for Nintendo’s current-generation hardware. The original Nintendo Switch also received a price increase in 2025. The timing is notable, as console pricing typically decreases as a generation progresses. However, this pattern of mid-generation price increases has become more common across the industry, reflecting broader trends in gaming hardware costs and manufacturing expenses.
The increase adds to consumer concerns about elevated hardware costs across multiple gaming platforms during this generation. Nintendo has indicated that those wanting to purchase the Switch 2 at the current price have until September 1 to do so in regions outside of Japan.
