Gangstar Mirage City, Tencent’s GTA-meets-Cyberpunk game, starts rolling out today

Tencent-owned publisher Level Infinite has begun rolling out Gangstar Mirage City, an open-world crime RPG positioned as a blend of Grand Theft Auto and Cyberpunk. The game represents an officially-licensed continuation of Gameloft’s long-running Gangstar franchise, marking the series’ transition to mobile platforms under new publishing ownership.

The regional launch commenced on August 20 in Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, South Africa, and Southeast Asia on iOS and Android. No worldwide release date has been announced.

Players build criminal empires in the fictional Mirage City through story-driven missions, gang territory control, and business operations. The game emphasizes multiplayer more prominently than previous Gangstar entries, positioning it as a live-service title designed for sustained engagement. The project previously carried the working title Codename Crime-Vi before public reveal.

The release reflects Level Infinite’s strategy of expanding its mobile and free-to-play portfolio across regional markets, particularly in emerging gaming regions. The soft launch approach allows the developer to test servers and gather player feedback before expanding distribution.
