ARC Raiders Cancels Expeditions Until Early 2027

Embark Studios has announced it will pause new Expeditions for ARC Raiders after the fifth one concludes on September 29, halting the system until early 2027. The developer plans to use this time to completely overhaul the Expedition mechanic following widespread community criticism.

Expeditions in ARC Raiders function similarly to the prestige system in Call of Duty, allowing players to voluntarily reset much of their character’s progress in exchange for permanent and temporary rewards. However, since their introduction, the system has struggled to gain acceptance among players, who have questioned whether the rewards justify the substantial progress sacrifice and expressed frustration with the associated grind.

Embark Studios has continuously adjusted the Expedition system since its launch, implementing changes to the fourth Expedition in June. This latest announcement signals the developer’s recognition that more substantial changes are necessary to address community concerns. The studio indicated that the fifth Expedition, which opens September 8, will be the last available until the system receives major improvements.

This pause represents a significant shift in ARC Raiders’ live-service roadmap, as Expeditions have been a core endgame progression mechanic. The community’s feedback on reward structures and progression balance will likely inform the overhaul, with Embark Studios’ extended timeline suggesting comprehensive changes rather than incremental adjustments.
