CoD: MW4 DLC Honors Real-Life Medal Of Honor Recipient Who Lost His Eye And Teeth In Grenade Blast

Activision has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch with special day-one DLC as part of its ongoing tradition of honoring real-life military heroes. The Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack, releasing October 23 alongside the game, adds Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter as a playable character.

Carpenter received the Medal of Honor after a heroic act of sacrifice during the War in Afghanistan. On November 21, 2010, while deployed in Marjah, he threw himself in front of a grenade to shield fellow Marine Nick Eufrazio from the blast. The explosion caused devastating injuries: Carpenter lost an eye, had his teeth stripped away, and lost consciousness for five weeks. He sustained numerous other life-threatening injuries in the blast.

Following this tradition, all proceeds from the Valor Pack DLC will benefit the Call of Duty Endowment charity. The DLC marks another instance of the franchise using its platform to recognize and support real military personnel, combining in-game content with charitable giving. The announcement aligns with Call of Duty’s established practice of dedicating special content to service members and veterans.
