XBOX Says It Is Helping Rockstar Protect IP After GTA 6 Leaks
Following alleged GTA 6 gameplay leaks attributed to an entity known as CYBERLEEK, Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet issued a statement of support for Take-Two and Rockstar Games. “We are working closely with Take-Two and Rockstar Games to support efforts to protect creative works and intellectual property,” Van Vliet said via Twitter.
The leaked footage originates from an older build of GTA 6 and has continued circulating online despite containment efforts. Despite the breach, Rockstar has indicated that its marketing plans for the game remain unchanged, and studio staff are continuing to treat the situation professionally.
In response, Take-Two has launched an active investigation to identify the source. While the leaker has not yet been identified, the company is pursuing aggressive legal measures to halt the spread of proprietary content. Take-Two has issued multiple subpoenas to major technology platforms—including Microsoft, Discord, and Google—requesting records and information that could assist in tracking down the responsible party and understanding how the footage was distributed across the internet.
The support from Xbox demonstrates the tech industry’s interest in protecting game development IP. Rockstar has not yet made a public statement directly addressing the leaks or Take-Two’s investigation efforts.
