The Blood of Dawnwalker’s console modes top out at 40fps, with no 60fps option at launch

The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch without a 60fps performance mode on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, according to new console gameplay footage from developer Rebel Wolves and publisher Bandai Namco. The game will offer two graphics modes: Quality Mode targeting 30fps at dynamic 4K resolution, and Balanced Mode targeting 40fps at dynamic 4K. Neither mode reaches the 60fps standard increasingly common on current-generation consoles.

The PS5 Pro version will match these frame rate and resolution targets but feature enhanced visual quality across both modes, using the console’s additional processing power to improve graphics fidelity rather than performance. This mirrors the scaling approach other games have taken with PS5 Pro’s release.

The absence of a 60fps option has drawn mixed reactions from the gaming community. Some players have expressed disappointment with the performance targets, while others indicate they would have preferred a lower-resolution 60fps option to the current 4K-locked approach at 40fps. Community members are hopeful that Rebel Wolves may release a post-launch performance patch to address framerate concerns following the game’s release next month.
