GTA VI: all the news on Rockstar’s next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series
Rockstar Games has announced a second delay for Grand Theft Auto VI, pushing the release from its originally planned fall 2025 window to November 19, 2026. The title, which comes over a decade after the release of GTA V across two console generations, has faced multiple pushbacks throughout its development. The most recent delay extends the wait by nearly a full year from the game’s previous May 26, 2026 target date.
Digital preorders for GTA VI are now open, offering two editions: a standard edition priced at $79.99 and a premium Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Both versions are available as digital code-only releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will feature protagonists Jason and Lucia as they navigate Vice City while caught in a criminal conspiracy that unfolds following a failed job.
The delays have coincided with significant workplace turbulence at Rockstar Games. The developer faced accusations of union busting after terminating more than 30 employees during development. This labor dispute has added scrutiny to the studio’s practices during the extended development cycle for what remains one of the gaming industry’s most anticipated releases.
