Every Officially Confirmed Marvel Movie and TV Show Coming Through 2029
Marvel Studios is restructuring its release strategy following a series of underperforming films. After hits like Deadpool & Wolverine and the Spider-Man franchise achieved billion-dollar returns, lower-grossing entries including The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Captain America: Brave New World prompted leadership to reconsider its rollout approach.
In response, Marvel has significantly slowed its production pace. The studio’s 2026 slate focuses on Avengers: Doomsday, intended to stabilize its reliable blockbuster franchises. Following that, 2027 will feature just one major release: Avengers: Secret Wars, positioned as a significant event film and described as a “soft reset” for the MCU.
This strategic shift aligns with Disney CEO Bob Iger’s 2023 initiative to reduce Marvel’s release frequency. The decision reflects industry-wide recognition that oversaturation in the superhero market can diminish audience interest and box office performance. By spacing releases further apart and concentrating on high-profile event films, Marvel aims to restore cultural momentum and improve commercial performance for its remaining slate through 2029.
