Lenovo confirms Legion Go issues after gamers report bricked devices
Lenovo has acknowledged widespread issues affecting its Legion Go handheld gaming PC following reports from users whose devices became unusable after receiving a software update. The company’s delayed response came roughly three weeks after a Reddit user publicized a repair bill exceeding $290 for their bricked device, which prompted additional reports of similar damage and costly repairs from other owners.
In a brief statement, Lenovo suggested users experiencing issues first attempt a troubleshooting step: holding down the power button for an extended period. Should this fail to resolve the problem, the company directed affected customers to contact its support team directly. The company has not yet announced whether repair costs will be waived or subsidized for devices damaged by its update.
The incident draws comparison to Framework, a modular computer manufacturer that has taken a different approach by apparently covering repair costs for users affected by its own software issues. The contrast has highlighted questions about corporate responsibility when updates cause hardware failures—specifically whether companies should bear the cost of fixing problems caused by their own software deployments.
