Rumours of a third Ori game are “nonsense”, confirms series creator
Rumors circulating about a potential third Ori game have been definitively shut down by Moon Studios CEO Thomas Maher. The speculation, which originated from a ResetEra post by leaker NateTheHate, suggested Microsoft might announce a new entry in the Ori series at Gamescom 2026. However, Maher dismissed these claims as “nonsense” via social media, clarifying that he has had no communications with Microsoft regarding such a project.
NateTheHate, a leaker with a credible track record including accurate predictions about Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remakes, had suggested an announcement for a “dormant franchise” sequel was in the works. While the leaker subsequently identified this as potentially referring to Ori, they acknowledged lacking official confirmation about whether any announcement would occur at Gamescom.
The Ori series, which comprises Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, has been dormant since the latter’s 2020 release. Rather than developing a third mainline entry, Moon Studios is currently focused on No Rest for the Wicked, an action-RPG in active development. Maher’s statement serves to clarify the studio’s priorities and dispel fan speculation that had gained traction across social media platforms in the lead-up to Gamescom 2026.
