Guy Richie’s Netflix Crime Series Is So Good It’s Already Been Renewed
Guy Ritchie’s Netflix crime series The Gentlemen has been renewed for a third season before its second installment premieres on September 3, signaling strong audience reception and Netflix’s confidence in the franchise. A spinoff of Ritchie’s 2019 film, the series premiered in 2024 and stars Theo James as Duke Eddie Honniman, a former Army captain and UN peacekeeping officer.
The early renewal reflects Ritchie’s growing dominance in the streaming space—the acclaimed director of Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels now has shows across multiple platforms including Prime Video’s Young Sherlock, Paramount+’s MobLand, and Netflix’s The Gentlemen franchise. In a statement, Ritchie expressed enthusiasm for the show’s trajectory, noting that “the ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight.” He added that a third season “felt inevitable” as he plans to “push the boundaries of it further.”
The renewal strategy reflects streaming platforms’ use of early renewals to demonstrate content confidence and encourage subscriber retention amid competitive market pressures.
