Playstation Doubles Down on Ditching PC in New PS5 Video

Sony has reinforced its commitment to PlayStation 5 exclusivity with a new marketing campaign. The company released a 30-second promotional video titled “Only On PS5” on its official channel, showcasing several high-profile titles that will remain exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console.

The advertisement features footage from existing PlayStation 5 exclusives including Astro Bot, Gran Turismo 7, Ghost of Yotei, and Saros, alongside clips from upcoming exclusive titles God of War Laufey and Marvel’s Wolverine. The video’s narrator emphasizes the exclusivity appeal: “These moments don’t happen anywhere else, so come and make the unthinkable happen, only on PS5.”

This campaign marks a significant strategic shift for Sony. The company previously pursued a multi-platform approach, releasing several PlayStation exclusives on PC. However, a May 2026 Bloomberg report indicated that Sony had decided to reverse course, with future PlayStation Studios narrative single-player games remaining exclusive to PlayStation hardware.

The decision reflects commercial considerations. According to Bloomberg, PC ports of previous PlayStation exclusives underperformed sales expectations, prompting Sony to reconsider its PC strategy. By focusing on console exclusivity, Sony aims to reinvigorate the value proposition of PS5 ownership and differentiate its platform in an increasingly consolidated gaming market.

The “Only On PS5” campaign represents Sony’s renewed emphasis on leveraging exclusive content as a core selling point for its console, marking an end to its experimental period of broader platform availability.
