Take-Two Interactive files subpoenas against Microsoft, Discord, and X amid ongoing GTA 6 leaks

Take-Two Interactive has escalated its response to ongoing Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks by filing subpoenas against Microsoft, Discord, and X. According to reports from Kotaku and IGN, the parent company of Rockstar Games filed the subpoenas with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 20, seeking “any records related to various online accounts involved in posting and sharing leaks.” The requested information includes user data, linked OneDrive accounts, and connected Xbox accounts used to distribute unauthorized GTA 6 materials. Take-Two is attempting to identify alleged infringers responsible for sharing the leaked content, signaling its intent to pursue legal action against those involved. This legal escalation reflects the significant threat that major leaks pose to publishers ahead of major game releases, demonstrating the measures companies will undertake to hold accountable those responsible for unauthorized distribution of intellectual property.
