The Best SNES RPG You Likely Never Played Is Getting A Modern Re-release

Terranigma, a cult classic SNES real-time RPG from 1995, is receiving its first-ever official release in the United States in early 2027, ending a 30-year wait. The game, the third entry in a trilogy alongside Soul Blazer and Illusion of Giana, had previously been available only in Japan and Europe due to licensing rights complications.

Publisher Clear River Games has announced a global re-release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC, with a physical version planned for PS5. The game follows Ark, a youth from a secluded village whose opening of a mysterious box unleashes a curse, propelling him on an epoch-spanning quest to restore the world.

The title’s unavailability in North America for three decades has made it a highly sought-after piece among collectors and retro RPG enthusiasts, cementing its status as a rare entry in the SNES library.
