The Xbox release of Wuthering Waves still suffers from issues that make it hard to recommend (for now)

Wuthering Waves, the viral free-to-play gatcha RPG that has amassed approximately 30 million players worldwide, launched on Xbox in July 2024. However, the Xbox version’s arrival has been marred by significant performance issues that undermine its appeal.

The game, which parallels the success of titles like Genshin Impact, features cross-platform availability spanning PC, consoles, and mobile devices. It’s distinguished by its high-quality narrative and substantial combat depth. Despite these strengths, the Xbox release has disappointed players—reports indicate the game visually downscales significantly on the platform, appearing comparable to a mobile version running on low graphics settings.

These performance shortcomings represent a notable disparity between the Xbox version and its counterparts on other platforms, making the console edition difficult to recommend to players seeking the full experience. The issues highlight ongoing challenges with optimizing demanding live-service titles for console hardware, particularly when bringing games originally developed for other ecosystems.
