Riot Games is winding down 2XKO active development in December

Riot Games announced it will conclude active development of its fighting game 2XKO at the end of December 2026. The studio will continue introducing new content and features through December, including two additional champions, before delivering a final comprehensive bug fix patch.

While active development is ending, Riot Games is committed to maintaining the game’s online infrastructure for the foreseeable future, ensuring players can continue enjoying online matches. Offline play will remain unaffected and fully accessible.

To support the player community during this transition, Riot Games is making several accommodations. The studio will unlock all champions for players, removing any paywall to character access. Most cosmetic items will be bundled together, and players who spent money on the game on or before August 20, 2026, will receive full refunds.

The decision comes after Riot Games monitored 2XKO’s performance trajectory. While the game initially attracted significant player interest, sustained engagement did not meet the expectations required to justify continued active development investment.
