Apple Unveils 2nm M6, Quad-Die M5 Ultra Chips with New Mac Mini and Mac Studio

Apple announced its latest Apple Silicon chips today, introducing the M6 and M5 Ultra processors for new Mac computers. The M6 is Apple’s first 2nm system-on-chip, marking the company’s continued push toward advanced manufacturing processes.

The M6 features a 12-core CPU with two super cores, four performance cores, and six efficiency cores, paired with a 12-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. The chip supports memory bandwidth up to 170GB/s. The M6 will power the new Mac Mini, delivering significant performance improvements for general-purpose computing.

The M5 Ultra represents another milestone as Apple’s first quad-die chip, integrating four silicon dies in a single package. This multi-chiplet design enables Apple to deliver maximum performance for professional workflows in the new Mac Studio. The quad-die configuration allows for substantial scaling of processing power while maintaining efficiency.

Together, these chip announcements demonstrate Apple’s strategy of combining advanced manufacturing technology with custom silicon architecture to maintain its competitive edge in the personal computer market.
