ROG Xbox Ally X20 Gets Official Price: $300 Extra for a Bigger OLED Screen, TMR Sticks and Translucent Golden Chassis

Asus has officially announced pricing and opened pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a 20th anniversary edition handheld gaming PC that significantly upgrades the company’s existing Xbox Ally X. The standalone model starts at $1,299.99 USD (£1,299 in the UK), representing a $300 premium over the regular Ally X model.

The primary upgrade justifying the price increase is a larger 7.4-inch OLED display with 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR support. Beyond the screen, the X20 features a distinctive translucent chassis with golden accents, redesigned for improved airflow. Additional enhancements include TMR thumbsticks, an 80Wh battery, 1TB storage capacity, 24GB DDR5 RAM, and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. Internally, the spec sheet remains unchanged from the standard Xbox Ally X.

Originally, Asus planned to release the X20 exclusively as a premium bundle paired with ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses, priced at substantial cost. Following feedback, the company reversed course and now offers it as a standalone device, making the OLED handheld more accessible to consumers. The bundle remains available at $2,499.99 USD, which includes the AR glasses, a dbrand Killswitch case, and a custom Pelican carrying case.

Pre-orders are live now through Best Buy and Asus’s online store, with the handheld launching on October 15, 2026. The move represents Asus’s response to market demand for a practical handheld gaming option without mandatory accessories, though at a premium price point reflecting the superior OLED display technology.
