Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Gamescom Trailer Is All About The Weapons

Square Enix showcased a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, with director Naoki Hamaguchi presenting the cinematic footage. The trailer centered on the Weapons—massive, kaiju-like creatures that serve as the game’s most challenging optional boss encounters and play a significant role in the story.

The trailer opens with Rufus Shinra addressing the world about the Weapons and the looming Meteor threat on the Shinra News Network, framing humanity’s struggle against these “towering monstrosities.” The footage showcases the Weapons wreaking havoc, with specific glimpses of Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon, and Ultima Weapon—iconic superbosses from the original Final Fantasy 7 that have been reimagined for the remake trilogy. The Emerald Weapon encounter features a notably tight constraint with a 20-minute time limit, emphasizing the extreme difficulty of these battles.

Beyond the Weapons focus, the trailer also featured submarine combat sequences and gameplay footage showing party members in different class outfits, including Tifa dressed as a Black Mage, hinting at further gameplay variety in the final installment.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is confirmed for a Spring 2027 release window across all platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 launching simultaneously. This marks the conclusion of the remake trilogy that began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake in 2020, continuing with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PS5, and now arriving at its climactic finale.
