Game Developer Association of India picks 15 studios for first Supernova cohort
The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) has announced the inaugural cohort for its Supernova incubation program, selecting 15 game studios from over 260 applicants. Launched in July 2026, Supernova represents a significant initiative to support India’s emerging game development scene, particularly pre-revenue studios seeking to establish themselves in the competitive gaming industry.
The three-month program provides selected studios with comprehensive support including mentorship from industry experts, industry credits, and critical introductions to investors and publishers. This structured approach aims to accelerate studio growth during crucial early development stages. The initiative culminates in a Demo Day presentation opportunity at the India Game Developers Conference (IGDC) this year, offering participants visibility and potential partnerships with major industry players.
The program operates through a strong partnership network including Tencent, IVIPRO, SpielFabrique, Indus Appstore, Mintegral, and Lakshya Digital. Each partner brings distinct value to the cohort—notably, Indus Appstore will provide specialized support to participants. This multi-stakeholder approach reflects a collaborative effort to strengthen the Indian game development ecosystem. The competitive selection process, which filtered applicants down from 260+ studios to just 15, suggests both high quality standards and diverse talent within the program, positioning Supernova as an important stepping stone for Indian developers aspiring to launch successful games and establish sustainable studios.
