Metro 2039 is Already Dominating Awards Shows Months Before Release
Metro 2039, the long-awaited post-apocalyptic shooter from 4A Games, is leading the Gamescom Awards 2026 with five nominations—more than any other title. Voting opens August 26, 2026.
The upcoming sequel has achieved significant recognition across the awards, with nominations including Best PC Game, Best PlayStation Game, and Best XBOX Game, demonstrating broad platform support and community interest ahead of launch.
The Gamescom Awards are a community-driven event recognizing games showcased or revealed during the annual gaming conference. This year’s slate features top-tier titles, but Metro 2039’s dominance is particularly striking given the game hasn’t launched yet—it’s expected to release potentially six months or more after the awards voting period.
The strong showing reflects substantial anticipation for the Metro franchise’s latest entry. The five nominations place Metro 2039 ahead of established competitors at one of gaming’s major awards ceremonies, underscoring industry and community confidence in the title ahead of its release.
