Path Of Exile 2 Is Finally Getting Its Full Release, And It’ll Be Free-To-Play
Path of Exile 2, the action RPG sequel from Grinding Gear Games, will officially launch its 1.0 version on December 11, 2026, ending its year-long early access period that began in December 2024. The announcement was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 through a new gameplay trailer showcasing the game’s narrative setup and faster-paced action compared to its predecessor.
At full release, Path of Exile 2 will transition to a free-to-play model, matching the business approach of the original game and removing its current price point. The game will be available across PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, ensuring broad platform accessibility.
The 1.0 release will feature extensive endgame content, including over 100 maps and challenging boss encounters designed for players seeking deep progression systems. Character customization remains a core feature, offering hundreds of active and passive skill gems that enable diverse class builds and playstyles.
The release will introduce a new sword-wielding class, addressing long-standing player requests for blade weapon options that had been notably absent during the early access phase. This addition represents one of several previously announced classes planned for eventual implementation.
Grinding Gear Games is encouraging interested players to register on the official Path of Exile 2 website, where registrants can unlock exclusive in-game rewards ahead of the December launch, building community engagement as the game prepares for its official release.
