New Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle Coming In September, And It’s $50 More Expensive Than The Original

Nintendo has announced two new Switch 2 bundles to roll out following the console’s $50 price increase in September 2026. Starting in late September, the Mario Kart World bundle will sell for $549.99, bundling the console with a digital copy of the game and three months of Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo claims this represents a $37.98 saving. A second option launches October 22: the Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle at $529.99, which includes the console, a digital code for the game, and the same three-month NSO subscription, offering a $27.98 discount according to Nintendo’s calculations.

The Mario Kart World bundle represents a re-release of an earlier promotional offer that launched alongside the Switch 2 in June 2025 at $500. The reborn bundle is $50 more expensive, directly reflecting Nintendo’s upcoming console price increase from $449.99 to $499.99, taking effect September 1. The original 2025 bundle did not include a Nintendo Switch Online membership, making direct price comparisons imperfect but illustrating Nintendo’s strategy to bundle services alongside hardware.

The timing of these announcements suggests Nintendo is attempting to soften the impact of the price hike by offering bundled savings to consumers. Both bundles include first-party software and subscription service access, creating perceived value that partially offsets the increased console cost. The staggered rollout—with the Mario Kart World bundle arriving first—aligns with Nintendo’s ongoing software release calendar.
