New Worms Game ‘Galactic Tactics’ Unveiled at Gamescom 2026
Team 17 has officially announced Worms: Galactic Tactics, a new entry in the long-running Worms franchise, at Gamescom 2026’s Opening Night Live. The announcement comes months after the game leaked online, with early footage emerging in May and August 2026.
Worms: Galactic Tactics represents a strategic evolution for the franchise, blending roguelike elements with XCOM-style tactical gameplay. The game emphasizes positional thinking and strategic action, continuing the franchise’s tradition of incorporating strategy mechanics into its core gameplay loop. This marks the first major new Worms title in the series’ recent output.
The game is scheduled for PlayStation 5 release in 2027. The official reveal at Gamescom 2026 showcased polished gameplay footage, moving beyond the leaked materials that had circulated online earlier in the year.
The announcement demonstrates Team 17’s continued commitment to the Worms franchise, bringing fresh gameplay mechanics while capitalizing on both longtime fan interest and appeal to new players entering the series.
