1047 Games ends active development on Empulse and Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, says it’s moving away from live service shooters

1047 Games has announced the end of active development for two of its games: Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and Empulse. The studio cited insufficient revenue to cover the ongoing costs of dedicated server infrastructure. Beginning September 3, both titles will transition to peer-to-peer hosting, allowing players to continue playing without centralized server support.

The decision reflects a broader strategic shift away from live-service shooters after a decade of focus in that space. Splitgate, the studio’s flagship title that originally launched seven years ago, has a history of transitions: its dedicated servers were taken offline last year, but the game remained playable through a shift to peer-to-peer hosting and continues to be accessible on console platforms today.

1047 Games emphasized its commitment to game preservation and community, stating: “We believe people should be able to keep playing the games they love even after active development ends.” The studio’s decision to maintain playability through peer-to-peer infrastructure—rather than shutting the games down entirely—prioritizes long-term player access over immediate cost considerations.
