Danganronpa 2x2 No Longer Getting A Full Cartridge Release On Switch 2
Spike Chunsoft has announced that retail editions of Danganronpa 2x2 will no longer be released on physical cartridges for Switch 2, instead utilizing the Game-Key Card format when the game launches in early 2027.
This format change affects pre-orders across regions. In the United States, pre-orders for the Danganronpa 2x2 Psycho Tropical Vacation Package through Spike Chunsoft’s official store will be cancelled, with customers receiving notifications to re-order the title on Game-Key Card instead. In the UK and Europe, existing pre-orders will be honored but will be fulfilled using the Game-Key Card format rather than traditional physical cartridges.
The shift represents a significant departure from traditional Nintendo Switch 2 retail releases, as Game-Key Cards offer a different physical media experience compared to standard game cartridges. This decision marks one of the early publisher format choices for Switch 2’s library as the console prepares for its early 2027 launch.
