Exterminauts Season Pass Won’t Make You Pay If You’re Willing To Play

Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, is launching Exterminauts, a third-person live-service shooter combining the comedic tone of Ghostbusters with the sci-fi action of Starship Troopers. The game has drawn comparisons to Helldivers 2, though Behaviour Interactive emphasizes the experiences are distinct.

The studio is adopting a player-friendly approach to monetisation, allowing players to unlock battle passes through gameplay rather than requiring payment. Players can choose to purchase battle passes directly to support the studio if they prefer, but progression won’t be gated behind purchases for engaged players.

According to creative director Vincent Regimbald, speaking at Gamescom, Exterminauts will launch with live content rolling out approximately one month after the game’s initial release. This staggered approach to live-service content aims to maintain player engagement and provide ongoing reasons to return to the game.
