M80 Enter CDL After Acquiring Boston Breach Franchise
M80, a North American esports organization, has acquired the Boston Breach franchise and joined the Call of Duty League (CDL) for the 2026/27 season, which begins December 5. The newly acquired franchise will be rebranded as M80 Boston, maintaining the Boston location despite the ownership change. Boston Breach had competed in the CDL for four years prior to this transition.
In a statement, Boston Breach’s management expressed gratitude for the fanbase’s support throughout their tenure in the league. While specific financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed, the transaction comes following significant changes to the CDL’s economic structure. Activision Blizzard recently eliminated franchise entrance fees and reduced revenue sharing for league participants, potentially making franchises more accessible to new owners.
M80’s expansion into Call of Duty represents the latest addition to the organization’s competitive esports portfolio, which already includes titles such as 2XKO and Counter-Strike. The organization continues to expand its presence across multiple competitive gaming scenes.
