Riot Games Job Listing Hints at Digital Riftbound TCG
A recently deleted LinkedIn job posting from Riot Games has fueled speculation that the company is planning to develop a digital version of Riftbound, its physical League of Legends trading card game. The job listing sought a publishing lead with expertise in both trading card games and digital gaming, particularly mobile platforms.
Riftbound was released in China a year ago and later launched in English-speaking regions on Halloween 2025. Since its physical release, players have had no official digital version to enjoy, instead relying on RiftAtlas, a fan-created simulator website to play the game online.
The job listing suggests Riot may be looking to bridge this gap by creating an official digital adaptation. However, this move could create complications for Legends of Runeterra, Riot’s existing digital trading card game set in the League of Legends universe. Legends of Runeterra launched in 2020 and remains available through the League of Legends client on PC. The game’s team was notably downsized in 2024, and a digital Riftbound release could further fragment Riot’s TCG audience.
The deletion of the LinkedIn posting raises questions about whether Riot has reconsidered its approach or simply wanted to reduce public speculation about the project. Whether Riot intends to maintain both digital TCG titles, sunset Legends of Runeterra in favor of Riftbound, or pursue a different strategy remains unclear.
