Rockstar issues statement on GTA 6 gameplay leaks, says they may include some spoilers

Rockstar Games issued an official statement on August 26, 2026, acknowledging extensive gameplay leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 that circulated online over the preceding week. The developer described the leak as “heartbreaking for our team” and confirmed that the leaked footage is authentic, though the leaked content represents “obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.”

The leaked videos, attributed to a hacker group calling itself “CYBERLEEK,” include multiple gameplay clips and story spoilers featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia in various scenes, including carjacking sequences and cutscenes. Rockstar acknowledged that the intended game experience may now be compromised by spoilers and apologized for the extended development timeline.

The company has taken investigative action, with Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive filing multiple subpoenas to technology companies to identify the leaker. Despite the security breach, Rockstar reaffirmed the game’s November 19, 2026 launch date and urged players to wait for the official experience. The developer plans to showcase the game officially through a Netflix-exclusive extended gameplay reveal. This represents the second major leak incident for the franchise, following a 2022 leak that was eventually resolved.
