Elden Ring Update Patch Notes Reveal Biggest Changes in Years
FromSoftware has released a major patch for Elden Ring alongside Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, marking the biggest update to the game in years. The patch includes extensive balance adjustments for weapons and playstyles across both PvE and PvP content, with numerous buffs and selective nerfs to various tool categories.
The Tarnished Edition, launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, bundles the base game with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and introduces new content available across all platforms. The edition features two new starting classes—Idus Knight and Heavy Knight—along with new weapons and armor sets obtainable through new playthroughs or in-game merchants. Players can also unlock three new cosmetic skins for Torrent, the player’s spectral steed.
The update adds new invasion events to Caelid and Leyndell, including encounters with new enemy types. All new weapons and cosmetics are being released as the “Tarnished Pack” DLC on all platforms simultaneous with the Switch 2 launch on August 28. This content injection provides significant incentive for players to return to the Lands Between, particularly with the combination of years-long balance patches and fresh start options.
