European games industry revenue reached €30bn in 2025

European video games industry revenue reached €30 billion in 2025, with digital purchases representing 91% of total revenue, according to Video Games Europe (VGE)’s latest All About Games report.

The report marks a significant expansion of VGE’s annual industry analysis, broadening coverage from five core European markets to 16 countries. The original tracking regions—United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy—continue to form the foundation, joined by Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden, and Switzerland.

VGE commissioned research firm Ipsos to compile data from multiple sources including GameTrack, GSD, and the recently published EGDF-VGE Video Games Industry Insight Report. The analysis incorporated responses from 39,371 survey participants across all included regions.

The dominance of digital revenue—over nine-tenths of total earnings—underscores the continuing industry shift from physical sales toward digital distribution and in-game purchases. This reflects broader European consumer behavior trends and the prevalence of digital storefronts across gaming platforms.

The €30 billion figure provides a comprehensive economic snapshot of Europe’s gaming sector and represents a key metric for industry stakeholders and policymakers. The expanded geographic scope enables more detailed regional analysis and improved representation of mid-tier European markets previously absent from VGE’s primary tracking.
