GTA 6 Skipping PC At Launch And Having No Online Right Away Is Good, Helldivers Boss Says

The CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios has expressed satisfaction with Grand Theft Auto 6’s staggered launch plan, believing it will allow Helldivers 2 and other live-service games to maintain their competitive foothold.

Sham Jorjani stated that Rockstar Games’ decision to launch GTA 6 exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S—without a PC version or online multiplayer mode at launch—provides breathing room for competitors. “Rockstar makes ridiculous, high-effort stuff and it’s awesome that games like this get made,” Jorjani said, adding that the limited initial availability means GTA 6 won’t become the “all-consuming behemoth” some industry observers predicted.

The absence of a PC release at launch is particularly significant, excluding a major gaming audience from day-one access. GTA 6’s lack of an online component at release also means live-service competitors won’t immediately face competition from the franchise’s player base. The exact timeline for PC availability and GTA Online’s successor remains unannounced.

Jorjani’s comments reflect broader competitive pressures facing live-service games ahead of GTA 6’s November launch. Many developers have adjusted their release schedules to avoid direct conflict with what is expected to be one of the year’s biggest releases. Helldivers 2, which has been a significant success for Arrowhead, appears positioned to benefit from the staggered GTA 6 rollout.
