“We’re not doing something that everyone [would] do”: After Cost of Hope, Stalker 2 devs are working on multiplayer which won’t be “session-based” like Counter Strike
GSC Game World has announced plans for post-launch content for Stalker 2 following the release of its 2.0 update and Cost of Hope DLC. The studio is developing a multiplayer mode that will differ from session-based designs like Counter-Strike, indicating a distinct approach to how players will connect and interact. Additionally, a second DLC is in development featuring what the developers describe as a “different kind of storytelling” compared to the first expansion.
These announcements were revealed during interviews at Gamescom, signaling GSC Game World’s commitment to sustained content development for Stalker 2. The studio emphasizes it is not simply adopting established multiplayer formulas from other successful titles, suggesting the team is taking a more distinctive approach to expanding the game’s ecosystem.
