Devolver Digital Reveals Its GTA 6 Competitor, And It’s A Remaster Of A Nonexistent Remake

Devolver Digital has announced Volvy’s Adventure: Reslimed, a new platformer launching November 19, 2026—the same day as Grand Theft Auto 6. The announcement is presented as a tongue-in-cheek challenge to Rockstar’s highly anticipated release, with Devolver Digital deliberately positioning itself as the unconventional alternative.

The game’s marketing copy describes it as “a remaster of the second remake of the original monochrome action-platformer,” but this description is intentionally misleading. Volvy’s Adventure: Reslimed is actually an entirely new and original game, not a remake or remaster of anything. The original “Volvy’s Adventure” does not exist. The protagonist, Volvy, is Devolver Digital’s own fictional platformer mascot, not a historically famous video game character as the marketing falsely claims.

Styled after Game Boy Color games, Volvy’s Adventure: Reslimed represents Devolver Digital’s characteristic irreverent approach to marketing and game releases. The publisher has become known for this type of satirical promotional strategy, blending genuine game development with humorous marketing claims.

The move is particularly audacious given that November 19, 2026 is expected to be dominated by GTA 6’s release, with virtually no other major game launches scheduled for that date. By intentionally launching the same day, Devolver Digital is knowingly competing for attention against one of the most anticipated games in the industry—though with full self-awareness that their action-platformer is unlikely to capture the same audience.
