‘Star Wars’ Officially Returns to Disney Plus Next Week with New Streaming Release
Star Wars film The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to premiere on Disney Plus next week in September, marking its arrival on the streaming platform approximately 100 days after its theatrical release on May 22. The film, which serves as a spinoff from the Star Wars franchise, had previously been made available through digital release in July and will arrive on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray before its streaming debut.
The movie grossed $345 million at the global box office during its theatrical run. While this represents a successful performance, it fell considerably short of the previous major Star Wars theatrical release, The Rise of Skywalker, which surpassed $1 billion globally in 2019. The streaming release represents a return of the film and its characters—Din Djarin and Grogu (Baby Yoda)—to their original platform, as the property originated as a Disney Plus series before expanding to theaters.
