Microsoft Edge update adds Apple sign-in and scam protection, but officially ends Edge Drop and real-time video translation
Microsoft has released a new update to its Edge browser featuring enhanced sign-in options and improved security features. The update adds Apple account sign-in functionality, allowing users to authenticate using their Apple credentials directly through the browser, expanding authentication options beyond traditional methods.
A key security enhancement is an automatic unsubscribe feature designed to protect users from scam-related notifications. This tool automatically removes users from notification services and subscriptions associated with scams, significantly reducing exposure to fraudulent content without requiring user intervention.
The update also introduces new administrative controls and additional security tools, providing enhanced management capabilities for both enterprise and individual users seeking greater control over their browsing experience.
The release marks the official discontinuation of two existing Edge features. Edge Drop, which facilitated content sharing between devices, is being retired along with real-time video translation, a feature that enabled on-the-fly translation of video content within the browser.
