Spanish union calls for ongoing strike action at Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona
Spanish game developers union CSV is calling for strike action at Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona in protest of a return-to-office mandate. The union, affiliated with the larger Spanish trade federation CGT, has announced plans for three-day strikes every two weeks beginning in September 2026, with workers encouraged to stop work on September 1-3 and September 16-18.
The strike announcement follows the union’s communication of its concerns to the company in early August. However, workers’ representatives report they are still awaiting an official response from Ubisoft regarding their demands. A protest is scheduled to take place outside the studio’s Barcelona offices on Tuesday, September 1.
This action reflects broader tensions within the game development industry around workplace flexibility and return-to-office policies in the post-pandemic era. The strike represents a significant labor organizing effort in Spanish game development, as workers’ unions continue to advocate for improved working conditions and flexibility arrangements.
