Hello Neighbor 3 and the First Game are the Most Connected, Says Creator Nikita Kolesnikov

At Gamescom 2026, Hello Neighbor series creator Nikita Kolesnikov revealed that Hello Neighbor 3 is a direct narrative continuation of the original game. Currently in alpha build with no public testing available, the title marks a significant departure in the studio’s versioning strategy.

Kolesnikov confirmed this will be the final build designated as “alpha.” Future development versions will abandon traditional software terminology entirely, instead adopting names based on locations or book titles. This deliberate naming shift is designed to circumvent community expectations commonly associated with established development phases like beta testing.

The decision reflects an intentional effort to manage player perceptions around feature availability and development milestones. By moving away from conventional terminology, the development team aims to establish clearer communication with audiences about what to expect from each subsequent release version.
